Mateo Karamatic starts new adventure at Al-Nasr in the UAE!
Mateo Karamatic left TSV Hartberg after just one season and is now signing with Al-Nasr in the United Arab Emirates. The 23-year-old Tyrolean is taking the first step in his career outside of Europe. The contract runs until summer 2027, like Laola1 reported.
Karamatic also had the opportunity to move to a European club, but chose to move to Asia. This represents a bold new beginning, as Al-Nasr is not to be confused with the Saudi Arabian club Al-Nassr, where Cristiano Ronaldo plays. At Al-Nasr, Karamatic will meet, among others, the former Italian international Manolo Gabbiadini and the Swiss Haris Seferovic.
Career shifts and successes
Mateo Karamatic can look back on a varied career. He began his football career in Tyrol and moved to Red Bull Salzburg's youth academy in 2015. After three years and a short stay with Anif, he moved to Croatia, where he was denied a breakthrough at Osijek. He finally found his way in Slovenia near Laibach and was able to win both the championship and the cup there. After two years he returned to Austria and played one season for Hartberg, where he played 27 competitive games last season.
Last season, Al-Nasr's performance was mixed, with the team only finishing in sixth place, falling short of their expectations. For the coming season, the club has hired new coach Slavisa Jokanovic, who succeeds Alfred Schreuder. This change in leadership could bring a breath of fresh air and new strategies from which Karamatic could also benefit, according to Salzburg News.
With his move to Al-Nasr, Karamatic's goal is to prove himself in a new environment and perhaps carve out an even more successful career in international football. The coming years could be crucial for his development and the player has his sights set on proving his abilities on the international stage. The club itself is optimistic that Karamatic and several other new signings can contribute to the return to success.
