new strategy for sustainable tourism

As part of the media discussion, the new strategy for a sustainable Visitor Economy in Vienna is presented. This strategy is a further development of the Vienna Visitor Economy strategy published in 2019, which not only focuses on economic growth and workplace acquisition, but rather on the city's sustainability. This becomes the quality of life and stay of the residents: inside and visitors: emphasized inside. An essential aspect of this new direction is to measure the success of the destination of criteria such as service quality, diversity of offers and competitiveness, as reported by Wien.info

The need for the somewhat adapted strategy results from developments in both Vienna and internationally. For example, the previous smart city strategy was converted into a smart climate city strategy and the European Commission has published a transition pathway for tourism. In this context, the role of Wient tourism was re -evaluated in the implementation of these strategies, which led to the development of specific fields of action and measures in order to promote the sustainable development of tourism in Vienna.
