Rapid Vienna signs striker Claudy M'Buyi: heading to new heights!
SK Rapid Vienna has officially signed Claudy M’Buyi. The 25-year-old striker, who was born in the Democratic Republic of Congo on June 3, 1999, is moving from SKN St. Pölten to Vienna. The transfer costs the Rapid team just under 500,000 euros and provides for a contract until 2028. M’Buyi will wear number 71 next season.
In his final season in the ADMIRAL 2nd League, M’Buyi scored an impressive 21 goals in 24 games and was particularly strong in the last nine games, where he scored 14 goals. This performance certainly contributed to his move to one of the biggest clubs in Austria. Rapid sees it as its responsibility to compensate for the departures of three strikers from last season: Guido Burgstaller is ending his career, while Dion Beljo and Ercan Kara have to return to their clubs.
Positive reactions and expectations
Markus Katzer, Managing Director of Sports at Rapid Vienna, is positive about M’Buyi’s signing. He emphasizes that the player is not only talented, but also motivated and has great expectations for his time at Rapid. M’Buyi himself is looking forward to his new challenge and describes Rapid as a “very big” club. He is excited to play in a new city and a new country.
Before moving to Rapid, M'Buyi was a driving force for SKN St. Pölten last season, where he stood out early on as a versatile player who could be used both centrally and on the wings. Christoph Freitag, the sports director of SKN St. Pölten, praised M'Buyi as an interesting and variable player.
M’Buyi has clear goals for the coming season: He wants to have a great season and score a lot of goals for Rapid to inspire the fans.
With M’Buyi, Rapid Vienna is strengthening its offensive line and is relying on his skills to be competitive again in the Bundesliga. Given the current transfer situation, it is to be hoped that the commitments made will bring the desired success.
