Between hope and crisis: EC Peiting is fighting for a turnaround against Füssen

EC Peiting, a top league team, is currently struggling to get back on the road to success. The team recently lost in the derby against SC Riessersee 3:4 after a penalty shootout, which extended the negative streak to six games without points. Nevertheless, EC Peiting was able to take a point from this game. Coach John Sicinski described the game as a step in the right direction and received support from the ECP board. This described the current situation as a crisis in results. The entire team expressed their trust in the coach.

However, there are also injury-related problems in the team. Veteran Simon Mayr will be out in the coming weeks, which is why team manager Gordon Borberg is actively looking for reinforcements for the defense. However, the return of Lukas Gohlke, who will return to the team on Friday at 7:30 p.m. against EV Füssen, is positive. Christian Hanke will also be available again on Sunday at 6 p.m. for the home game against the Stuttgart Rebels. Sicinski expects a hard-fought game against Füssen, as the Peitingers still have unfinished business from previous encounters. EV Füssen also has a new coach, Schorsch Holzmann, after Juhani Matikainen was fired.

New head coach returns

John Sicinski, who was EC Peiting's coach in the 2015/16 season, is returning to this position after eight years. Under his leadership, the team reached the Oberliga quarter-finals. Sicinski will take on responsibility for the coming season and brings with him valuable experience from the past ten years, in which he worked with both young and experienced players. He emphasizes the opportunity to develop young talent and learn from experienced players.

EC Peiting showed strong performances last season and reached the quarterfinals of the playoffs. Sicinski plans to put the squad together as quickly as possible without setting a fixed deadline. He is currently in Peiting for inaugural visits and discussions, the results of which may be announced during the season-end ceremony on April 13, 2024.

The situation within the team remains tense, but EC Peiting officials are determined to tackle the challenge and turn things around while focusing on their upcoming games.
