According to Scopely, the game has consistently enjoyed high user numbers since its launch in the summer of 2016, cementing itself as one of the top 10 mobile games annually. Niantic's games collectively attract about 30 million monthly users and generated more than $1 billion in revenue last year, underscoring the dominance of "Pokémon Go" within Niantic's portfolio Niantic reported.

Developers stay on board

Niantic and Scopely have emphasized that the existing developers behind “Pokémon Go” and its siblings will continue to be part of their usual team. In the future, Niantic will focus on artificial intelligence and its own games “Ingress Prime” and “Peridot”. However, the deal is still subject to regulatory approval and is expected to be completed by the end of the year. Scopely, known for games like “Monopoly Go!” and “MARVEL Strike Force”, intends to further promote the innovative power of Niantic games, which opens up exciting prospects for passionate players on both sides. According to Tim O’Brien, Chief Revenue Officer of Scopely, the cooperation with the Niantic team will take the gaming experience to a new level.

With the acquisition, Niantic will spin off its technology platform into a separate entity called Niantic Spatial Inc. After the takeover, it will be exciting to see how the gaming landscape develops as a result of this merger in order to continue to delight the fan base in over 190 countries.
