New life for The Witcher 3: DLC brings exciting twists!

The popular role-playing classicThe Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, which was first released in 2015, could soon receive a third expansion. This is reported by several sources, including the Polish podcast Rock and Boris and the English-language site MP1st. However, the expansion is not being developed by the original creators CD Projekt Red, but by the external studio Fool's Theory, which consists of former developers of the Witcher games. This could make fans and the community sit up and take notice after the game captured gamers' hearts ten years ago.

Information about the planned expansion has come from various sources. Polish YouTuber Remigiusz Maciaszek, who has over one million subscribers, has confirmed, along with other independent sources, that CD Projekt Red and Fool's Theory are working on new, story-driven downloadable content (DLC). A CD Projekt Red employee mentioned in a recent quarterly earnings conference that they were working on “an unannounced project” with Fool’s Theory.

Planned timetable

The planned roadmap calls for official mod support for consoles, followed by the release of the new DLC in 2026. There is also speculation that CD Projekt Red will present a new game at the upcoming Game Awards 2024,The Witcher 4, would like to announce. A remake of the first The Witcher game is also being planned.
