Mario Kunasek: Styria now has a new governor!
Mario Kunasek has reached a historic milestone: The 48-year-old was praised by Federal President Alexander Van der Bellen as the new governor of Styria. This happened after his impressive election success in the Styrian state election, which recently took place. With this angry, Kunasek becomes the first FPÖ politician to be head of a federal state since Jörg Haider. The ceremony took place in the presence of his family, and van der Bellen did not miss the opportunity to wish the new governor all the best for his tenure, as In his speech, van der Bellen emphasized the economic diversity, tourism and the cultural importance of Styria. However, a small faux pas by the Federal President caused a sensation: when mentioning the domestic Bundesliga clubs, he forgot the GAK, which he suffered after a short statement. Kunasek will now cite a blue and black state government that was elected on Wednesday by the new Styrian state parliament. This is an important step for the FPÖ, which has often been in the shadow of other parties in recent years, such as oe24.at
van der Bellen had already praised Kunasek as a defense minister in the turquoise-blue government in 2017, which could possibly strengthen the new governor in the political landscape. It remains interesting how the collaboration with the FPÖ will develop, especially according to the warning words of the Federal President in the prior commissioning of their party colleagues last year.
