Black and Blue Coalition on Reform Course
In the meantime, the FPÖ, led by Kickl, shows its determination to initiate a drastic turn in Austrian budgetary policy. The planned coalition with the ÖVP has submitted an ambitious savings plan of 6.4 billion euros for 2025 in just three days. In this context, Kickl emphasizes the importance of a solid financial orientation that is necessary to cope with the budget deficit of terrifying 14.6 billion euros-a legacy of the former turquoise-green government, which has been held responsible for increased stalks of almost 40 percent since 2019. The new government, on the other hand, promises to save up to 24 billion euros by 2028, which it sees as evidence of their ability to act, as well as of course Magazin reported.Kickl pleads for responsible handling of taxpayers instead of continuing to rely on unproductive expenses. A central point in the savings plan is the deletion of controversial subsidies, which not only reduces government spending, but could also create space for future tax relief. The FPÖ emphasizes that a future -oriented budgetary policy could serve the interests of the domestic population much better without introducing new taxes. The government thus shows a clear focus on efficiency and responsibility, an approach that was heavily criticized in previous years.
