Price increase for drinking water: This is how expensive it will be from January 2025!
The Schaumburg-Lippe municipal utilities are pulling the emergency brake at the turn of the year and increasing drinking water prices for their customers. From January 1, 2025, the approximately 22,000 connected households will have to dig deeper into their pockets, because in Stadthagen and Obernkirchen the price will rise by eight cents per cubic meter, while consumers in Bückeburg and the joint municipalities of Eilsen and Niedernwöhren will have to pay twelve cents more. These significant price increases are due to increased costs in areas such as personnel, civil engineering and services, as the municipal utilities report. Managing director Dirk Rabeneck emphasizes the importance of sustainable quality of care and safety.
New prices at a glance
The new prices cannot be overlooked: customers in Bückeburg and the communities served will have to pay two euros per cubic meter from January, while Obernkirchen and Stadthagen will be confronted with a new price of 2.05 euros. For a three-person household that uses 150 cubic meters annually, this means an additional monthly burden of 1.61 euros in Bückeburg and 1.07 euros in Stadthagen or Obernkirchen. The last price increase took place two years ago before the company turned the price screw again.
The municipal utilities emphasize that despite the rising costs, the basic prices remain unchanged. This could provide some relief for many households after consumers complain about the rising cost of living. However, it remains to be seen how the population will react to these adjustments.
