Cinema in Tyrol: Optimistic for 2025 with numerous blockbusters!

Tyrolean cinemas can look back on an eventful year in 2024, which was marked by numerous challenges. Despite a 9.9 percent decline in visitor numbers due to short-term film postponements and major sporting events such as the European Football Championship and the Olympic Games, the cinemas recorded sales of 9.2 million euros. However, Alexander Wurzenrainer, chairman of the Tyrolean cinemas, emphasizes that interest in going to the cinema remains unbroken. Ticket prices rose on average by 22 cents to 9.54 euros in order to cover the increased energy and personnel costs.

A look at the highlights of 2024 shows that children's films such as “Inside Out 2” and “Despicable Me 4” thrilled viewers and thus achieved large viewing figures. This year, cinema fans can look forward to many new films, including “Paddington in Peru”, “Snow White” and action-packed blockbusters such as “Captain America: Brave New World” and “Jurassic World: Rebirth”. Wurzenrainer is optimistic that 2025 will be a better year for cinema, as there are no major sporting events in the summer months and some films have already been postponed.

Cinema experience remains trendy

The reopening of the cinema in Mayrhofen has increased the offering in Tyrol to a total of 12 cinemas with 48 screens, which makes the cinema experience even more attractive. In addition, the Tirol Cinema Festival will take place again this summer, where cinema fans can enjoy the latest films at a reduced price of 7.50 euros. According to Wurzenrainer, it is important that the cinema experience remains accessible to everyone, especially families. The combination of great films, affordable tickets and a welcoming atmosphere still makes cinemas an important part of the Tyrolean population's leisure activities ORF determines.
