Weapons cache discovered: mother and son under suspicion!
In a dramatic police operation in Upper Styria, several weapons caches were discovered on a property. During a search on Saturday morning, officers not only found an impressive collection of hunting weapons and military equipment, including Italian Mannlicher-Carcano carbines and an MG 42 machine gun from the Second World War, but also pyrotechnic materials and substances used to make explosives. Such discoveries raise questions and require urgent action. During this action, extensive legal action was also taken against a mother and her son, which, among other things, were connected to illegal areas from the National Socialist era. This is reported by the Small newspaper.
Questions about the legality of the search
The search itself also attracted attention in legal circles because the exact wording of the search warrant was viewed as inadequate in relation to the allegations. According to a ruling by the Federal Constitutional Court, such a decision must contain detailed information about the evidence sought in order to protect the fundamental rights of those affected. It was criticized that important details, such as the time of the crime and the exact evidence to be searched for, were missing. This could lead to future proceedings being called into question as the invasion of privacy was not sufficiently regulated, as stated by Right magnifying glass reported.
