Traffic chaos in Speyer: Attention, these streets are closed!

The city of Speyer will be faced with several traffic restrictions in the coming weeks that affect both pedestrians and drivers. From Friday, January 10th until probably Friday, February 7th, 2025, Heinkelstrasse from house number eight will be completely closed due to the installation of new house connections by the Speyer Public Works (SWS). The area will be designated as a cul-de-sac while pedestrians will still have access. Cyclists are encouraged to push. In addition, Nußbaumweg will be closed to traffic from January 13th to February 28th, 2025 due to civil engineering work by Waste Management Speyer (EBS). Here too, a diversion will be set up and pedestrian access will remain guaranteed Speyer courier reported.

In addition, the intersection at the “Rauschenden Wasser” will not be functional until the end of November 2023 due to defective supply cables. Nine out of twelve cables need to be replaced, which also requires civil engineering work. The city administration has announced that it will use cables with better mechanical shielding, which should also repel rodents. The intersection is therefore now closed to pedestrians and cyclists who want to cross the L 454. The diversion takes place via the secured crossing on Viehtriftstrasse, which is 100 meters away. In addition, temporary speed restrictions of 30 km/h apply at this point. If there is heavy traffic, the police will be called in to regulate traffic. Further information on this comes from Speyer 24 News.

These measures demonstrate the ongoing work to improve the infrastructure in Speyer, but citizens are encouraged to take the new traffic regulations into account when planning their routes to avoid delays. The city administration has also set up an information point for possible queries.
