A serious accident occurred on Thursday in the Wolfsschlucht near Wolkenstein, Erzgebirgskreis, which put the lives of a five-year-old girl and her 61-year-old grandmother in danger. The accident occurred around 3:45 p.m. and both sustained serious injuries.
Rescue workers from the rescue service and the high-altitude rescue team from Annaberg-Buchholz were immediately alerted. The girl was transported to a nearby hospital in a rescue helicopter. The grandmother was transported away in an ambulance. In addition, a pastoral care team was on site to offer support to the other hikers and those who witnessed the accident. The police pointed out that many tree stumps above the Wolfsschlucht were in a dilapidated condition.
