Tempo 30 in Blochingen: Traffic calming planned for residents!
In the municipality of Menges, a project that has been sought for years is finally being implemented: 30 km/h zones are to be set up on eleven streets in the Blochingen district. These include Schnabelgasse, Kirchgasse, Griessgasse and others. This step is no coincidence, as the traffic study that was carried out in November 2021 showed that a speed reduction makes sense for these areas, such as Swabian newspaper reported.
Traffic calming for residents
The initiative to set up these zones comes from the local council and the residents of Ennetach, who have been campaigning for traffic calming for years. The planning is supported by the police and the district office's lower traffic authority. In addition, there were no objections from the civil engineering department and the fire department, as many of the streets are dead ends and therefore mainly residential traffic. The new regulation is also intended to ensure that road users drive particularly carefully on Klösterleweg, as there is a kindergarten here, as was explained in the local council meetings.
What is particularly noteworthy is that the streets in the area are already designated as 30 km/h zones. In Blochingen, a district with around 902 inhabitants on the left bank of the Danube, a traffic show is required for the definition of the streets mentioned in order to sustainably increase the safety of residents. But one of the local council's wishes cannot be fulfilled: the speed limit should not apply to through towns, as these are excluded from the road traffic regulations. The Wikipedia page about Blochingen further explains that this sub-location has historical significance and is rich in nature conservation areas, which makes the focus on traffic safety all the more important.
