In the Rhein-Pfalz-Kreis there was a fight on the main street in Neuhofen on Saturday, January 11, 2025, around 5:55 p.m. This reported Mrn news. Several people were involved, and they were three significantly alcoholic accused who got into a fight after a football game was watched together. The people involved showed verbally aggressive and leaking behavior.

The police were called and there were measures against the aggressors who were fixed. A 34-year-old accused resisted and followed the police officers. A 33-year-old opponent tried to end this resistance. Finally, all aggressors were tied up. In the incident, two accused and two police officers suffered superficial injuries treated by the emergency services.

Investigations and legal consequences

The two suspects who resisted were taken into police custody and blood samples were removed. Due to resistance, an active attack on enforcement officers and assault, it is investigated against them. The third accused, who was not involved in the resistance, also faces a complaint for assault.

These incidents come against the background of a worrying development in Germany, such as Daily show reported. In 2023, 106,000 acts of violence against police officers were recorded, which represents an increase of 9,500 cases compared to the previous year. Federal Interior Minister Nancy Faeser described the attacks on police forces as "frightening" and announced possible changes in the law in order to increase the security of the civil servants. Unions also call for “hard consequences” for attacks on police officers.
