Spectacular watch theft: cleaner caught with Rolex trap!
A scandalous incident rocked a hotel in Bad Hofgastein when a 62-year-old from Linz noticed that his luxury Rolex watch, worth 130,000 euros, was missing after his departure on January 5th. The gentleman had stayed overnight at the hotel and only discovered upon his return that the expensive timepiece was no longer in his room. The hotel staff couldn't help him, so the Upper Austrian was forced to call the police. They quickly carried out an investigation and discovered the watch the following day, which the hotel owner thought was in the laundry. But this version was met with doubts from officials, such as today.at reported.
Investigation and confession
During police interviews, a 45-year-old Ukrainian cleaner partially admitted her guilt. She said she found the expensive watch in the hotel hallway and then threw it onto a canopy. On January 6th, a day after the incident, she finally informed the hotel owner about the discovery. According to reports, the latter wanted to protect the cleaner and was not entirely clear. The Ukrainian cleaner was released on charges of aggravated theft, while another cleaner was charged with giving false evidence, according to the report sn.at.
After these turbulent developments, the Linz resident has his valuable Rolex back and can breathe a sigh of relief. However, the incident sheds light on hotel security measures and the trustworthiness of staff.
