Police strikes drug ring in Vienna: 6 kilos of crystal meth secured!
The Viennese police have carried out a significant blow to drug trafficking. On May 8, 2025, five people were arrested as part of an extensive observation and a total of six kilograms of crystal meth and almost 39,000 euros in cash. The assignment began with the observation of two suspicious men in Vienna-new construction, who handled with a red cooling bag. The younger of the two men, 25 years old, drove to Steinbauergasse to Vienna-Meidling, where the 39-year-old man went into his car and returned with a larger plastic box.
In the subsequent check of the 39-year-old, the officials found around one kilogram of crystal meth. After this supposed handover of drugs, the 25-year-old returned to the Kenyongasse, which clarified the suspicion of hidden drug storage, a so-called bunker apartment. This bunker apartment was then searched and the investigators found it: five kilograms of crystal meth and 38,745 euros cash were ensured, while four other people aged 25 to 33, all with Serbian citizenship, were arrested on the premises.
Additional discovery of drugs
The investigation led the police to another apartment, where an additional 64.1 grams were found. The type of drugs that were stored in the bunker apartment was not explained in more detail in the reports, but the confiscated quantities indicate extensive drug trafficking. Drug use, especially such substances such as Crystal Meth, has also become more important in recent years, as an investigation into the development of drug offenses shows.
In the overall view, this effort is another step to combat drug trafficking in Vienna. The constant increase in amphetamine and methamphetamine offenses requires consistent police measures to ensure public security and to contain the spread of these dangerous drugs. According to reports, the number of drug offenses in connection with amphetamine has increased significantly in recent years, which illustrates the challenges for the law enforcement authorities.
