Truck stuck in Scharnitz: rescue fails in deep snow!

In a strange incident on February 3, 2025, a semi-trailer truck got stuck on a cross-country ski trail in Scharnitz, Tyrol. At around 7:00 a.m., the 59-year-old driver from the Czech Republic followed his navigation system, which showed him this unorthodox route to the unloading location. Carelessness caused his truck, which was loaded with wood, to get stuck in a narrow curve on the trail and could no longer be moved. The driver tried to shovel the vehicle himself, but without success Fireworld reported.

A first rescue attempt with a wheel loader was initially successful and the truck was able to be pulled about 370 meters along the trail. But the heavy vehicle got stuck in deep snow again. A second attempt to free the semi-trailer with an additional wheel loader and a tow vehicle failed because the snow had now softened. The police announced that the rescue work will continue on February 4, 2025, as well as the Allgäu newspaper reported.

This incident raises questions about the reliability of navigation systems, especially in such an unusual environment as a cross-country ski trail. While the driver acknowledged that his decision was unfortunate, it remains to be seen how the rescue work will continue and whether the semi-trailer can finally be freed in the coming days.
