Noise-stricken citizens: Sigmaringen district fights against motorcycle noise!

In the fight against the oppressive motorcycle noise in the Danube Valley, the Sigmaringen district is responding with concrete measures. Together with the communities of Sigmaringen, Beuron, Stetten am Kalten Markt and Inzigkofen, a new concept is being developed that is announced for 2025. This was sealed at the second round table on the topic in the district office, where mayors, police representatives and traffic authorities discussed the pressing issue. The use of a new action guide from the State Ministry of Transport, which has been available since May 2024, now opens the way for further traffic law measures to protect residents from massive motorcycle noise, such as Weekly Newspaper reported.

Existing speed limits of up to 60 km/h are apparently not enough to reassure citizens who have been complaining about the noise for years. The analysis shows that a particularly large number of motorcycles often pass the winding L197 on weekends, which makes intervention necessary. The new concept envisages the introduction of additional speed limits in the valley, which, however, still need to be approved by the responsible traffic authorities. In order to enforce these measures, increased traffic controls by the police are also being planned daily news confirmed. A cross-district day of action is also in sight in April 2025, which is intended to once again raise awareness of the dangers of motorcycle traffic.
