Chicken robbery before Christmas: brutal perpetrators steal 130 laying hens

A shocking incident occurred shortly before Christmas in Zissersdorf when an unknown man broke into Josef Resinger's mobile chicken coops and stole around 130 laying hens. These brutal thieves left behind not only material damage, but also emotional damage: many of the kidnapped animals were seriously injured and had to be slaughtered. Barn owner Resinger, who keeps a total of 400 to 600 hens, noted that of the usual 160 eggs laid, only about 50 remained, confirming his worst fears. The damage caused by this amounts to around 20,000 euros, which makes both the financial and emotional strain on the Resinger family enormous noe.ORF.at reported.

Brutal approach of the perpetrators

This criminal action prompted Resinger to file a police report and take additional security precautions, such as installing trail cameras. The perpetrator or perpetrators appear to have not only been out to steal, but also brutally harmed the chickens, which suggests that someone was acting with a lot of foreknowledge and malicious intentions. Resinger rules out that animals such as foxes or martens are to blame, as the remains of such predators would be found. Christmas was a nightmare for the family, and they are now hoping for information from possible witnesses to help them identify the perpetrators NOP reported.
