On Monday morning, January 7, 2025, a wallet was stolen from a 76-year-old woman from the municipality of Wehretal in the Aldi market on Niederhoner Straße in Eschwege. The incident occurred around 10:15 a.m. when the woman at the checkout noticed that her handbag was open and the wallet was missing, as was the case Werra Rundschau reported.
There was cash and identification documents in the wallet; the total damage is estimated at around 350 euros. The police in Eschwege have started an investigation and are asking for information by calling 05651/9250.
Investigations and other incidents
In addition to the theft in Eschwege, other incidents were also recorded on the same day. According to current police reports, an accident occurred on the B 27 at 4:40 p.m. when a falling branch damaged a vehicle. The material damage is estimated at around 1,000 euros. Another incident at 6:14 p.m. involved an 84-year-old whose car was damaged by a fallen telephone pole on the L 3424, also causing material damage of around 1,000 euros.
An incident in the parking lot of a Lidl store in Eschwege also attracted attention. At 3:10 p.m. there was an assault between two men. The perpetrator fled but later returned while police also launched an investigation into the incident.
