Peace demo in Schweinfurt: votes for Palestine despite the rain!

Last week there were protests both in Schweinfurt and Israel, which were strongly shaped by the current escalation of the Middle East conflict. In Schweinfurt, around 50 people gathered for a peace demonstration under the motto "Freedom for Palestine", despite adverse weather conditions. The participants who were equipped with Palestine and Lebanon flags moved through the city center and chanted slogans such as "Free Palestine" and "The End of the Crew". According to the mainpost Palestinians, while the background of the conflict were not discussed. Speakers criticized the Israeli approach and reminded of the atrocities from history by moving comparisons to the Holocaust.

In contrast to the quieter protests in Germany, Tel Aviv experienced more massive mobilization. Thousands of people demonstrate here for the conclusion of an agreement to release hostages, which are still in the hands of the Hamas in the Gaza Strip. Despite a ban on the police, the demonstrators could not be stopped and broke through barricades. On signs such as "Closes the deal", they burned fire and loudly called against Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who is suspected of undermining negotiations with Hamas. There are no reports about injured persons, as the Jewish general reported. The protests in Tel Aviv and other cities of Israel illustrate the deep dissatisfaction of the population with the current political situation and the treatment of hostages.
