Wrong star singer in Vechta: fraud was uncovered!

A 39-year-old woman from Vechta, Lower Saxony, is exposed to the accusation of fraud. According to reports, she pretended to be a false star singer and collected money and sweets on front doors. The police then initiated criminal proceedings against the woman.

The suspect was repentant and explained that they wanted to return the collected donations and replace the sweets. The situation came to light when a 50-year-old woman who was actually on behalf of a parish received references to the 39-year-old. She confronted the accused at a random meeting and then filed a complaint with the police.

Investigations by the police

During the first survey, the 39-year-old stated that she wanted to donate the money for a local hospital and not to have introduced herself as a star singer. Later, however, the woman appeared independently on a police station and apologized for her behavior.

Already on January 4, 2025, the 50-year-old Vechtaer informed the police about the wrong star singers. The group, which she accompanied with children, had asked for donations and sweets and performed a star singer song. Households were affected on Heinestraße and Mörickestraße. As a result, the accused apologized to the police on the evening of the same day. The initiated criminal proceedings for fraud now follow the further investigation.
