Drug influence and speeding: Police stop two drivers in Wels!
There was a dramatic police operation in Wels on Sunday evening, during which several drivers who were under the influence of drugs were removed from traffic. First, a 30-year-old man from Holzhausen attracted attention when he competed in an adrenaline-filled drag race with another vehicle. He raced into the city on the B1 at a horrendous 110 km/h, even though only 70 km/h was allowed. The police were quickly on the scene and a positive preliminary test confirmed that the man was unfit to drive. His driver's license was temporarily revoked and several charges were filed against him for speeding and illegal vehicle modifications, such as crown reported.
Impersonation and other drug trips
A few hours later, around 8 p.m., another driver was stopped in Wels-West. A 24-year-old man was posing as his 26-year-old brother when police stopped him. He is suspected of also being under the influence of drugs. Here too, a voluntary preliminary test was positive and a doctor declared the 24-year-old unfit to drive. The suspicion was confirmed when he admitted that his driver's license had been revoked and the police also took the keys to his vehicle. The civil patrol had carried out a comprehensive check after observing how the 24-year-old drove through two roundabouts without signaling 5min.at reported.
The police in Wels are increasingly concerned about the increasing number of drivers who are behind the wheel while under the influence of drugs or addictive substances. With consistent controls, officials try to make the roads safer and combat the illegal use of drugs while driving.
