Drug alert in Santoña: Grandma uses a walker as a drug smuggler!

In the small town of Santoña, in northern Spain, police have uncovered a remarkable drug ring led by an 87-year-old woman. The elderly lady was part of a nine-member network that was actively involved in drug trafficking. How Cosmo reports, the senior citizen cleverly used her walker to transport large quantities of drugs unnoticed through busy areas such as bars and supermarkets. On January 21st, they were arrested in the so-called “GADUS operation,” named after the cod. During simultaneous raids, investigators found a total of 6.5 kilograms of narcotics, including more than 1.8 kilograms of amphetamines and almost 1.5 kilograms of cocaine.

The senior drug dealer had developed a sophisticated system to conduct business from her apartment. She lowered a bag through a window secured with a rope into which the customers put the money before receiving the drugs back the same way. The authorities had long been looking for the background to the flourishing drug trade in Santoña. During the raids on January 21, officers searched several homes, garages and a restaurant. What came to light was shocking: In addition to the large quantities of drugs, evidence of other criminal activities was also found, which reached as far as the nearby “El Dueso” prison, where drugs were also supposed to be smuggled in.
