Brazen plant robbery in Heaven7: Olaf” and Valentina” disappeared!
A brazen plant robbery shocked the beach bar Heaven7 in Hard: On March 18th, unknown people stole the coveted rosemary bush “Olaf” and the lavender “Valentina”. Managing director Philipp Herburger describes the act as more than just a material loss. “It is an emotional blow for our family business,” he explains to VOL.AT. The surveillance footage shows that the perpetrator stayed at the site with a male accomplice for almost 20 minutes and specifically selected the plants.
“Olaf” was particularly important because he was scheduled to be the “official Easter egg hiding place” for the upcoming Easter brunch on April 20th. Herburger emphasizes the strong bond the team has with these plants. “Our guests have seen Olaf grow; it feels like someone has taken something very personal from us,” continued Herburger. He set a 24-hour deadline to allow the plants to be returned without consequences. Otherwise, a report will be filed with the police.
Immediate help through claims for damages
The legal consequences of theft are complex. According to anwalttippsdeutschland.de, injured parties can assert claims for damages, both against the perpetrator and, under certain circumstances, against the owner of the stolen item if the latter has breached their duty of care. In order to successfully claim compensation, those affected must prove the theft and document the value of the stolen goods.
The loss of “Olaf” and “Valentina” could not only result in an emotional loss, but could also have financial consequences if the plants are valued as a business asset to mitigate the damage. Herberger emphasizes the importance of reporting the incident to the police immediately and preserving evidence, such as video footage, to increase the chance of recovery and possible compensation. Theft therefore has not only personal but also legal dimensions that must be taken into account.
