According to police reports, both fell and slid down the slope, hitting another skier, a man of the same age from Burgenland. As a result of the collision, both skiers suffered such serious injuries that they had to be taken to the Schwarzach and Kalwang hospitals in two rescue helicopters. The snowboarder disappeared after the collision and the police are looking for the 35-year-old man with a striking reddish-brown goatee and whose snowboard is black and blue ORF Styria reported.

Rescue operations for missing snowboarder

Another incident occurred in the Bödele ski resort, where a 44-year-old German snowboarder went missing. After several days of intensive searching, the police finally found his body near Schwarzenberg. The man went snowboarding alone on January 20, 2024 and was reported missing when he failed to attend an important appointment. An alert parking lot operator spotted his vehicle, triggering a large-scale search that also included the use of police dogs.
