Bus driver on the wrong route: Christmas market visitors are stuck!
An exciting adventure happened on Monday on the way to the Christmas market in Möllensdorf, Saxony-Anhalt. A coach carrying 27 passengers, mostly elderly, got stuck on a dirt road after its satnav misdirected it. The bus driver was on his way from Wörpen when he got onto this unpaved road. Despite the help of two tractor drivers, the bus could not be freed, which is why a towing company with heavy equipment had to be called in, as the Wittenberg police reported. The rescue operation took several hours.
Meanwhile, helpful residents spontaneously offered their support, and some of them drove the shivering passengers directly to the Christmas market in two cars. Shortly afterwards, an additional bus from a travel company was organized to pick up the remaining passengers. So all the guests reached the Christmas market about 90 minutes late, where they were warmly welcomed by a cheerful Santa Claus with a loudspeaker announcement. The mishap, which initially thwarted the travelers' plans, ended with everyone arriving at their destination a little late but happy, reports MDR.
The incident caused excitement and some amusement among the passengers who were already looking forward to the Christmas treats. “The navigation system sent us to nowhere,” the bus driver explained in frustration when the first helpers arrived. Despite the unexpected delays, passengers were ultimately able to enjoy the festive ambience of the Christmas market as well Northern Courier reported.
