statistics on drug crime
A comprehensive analysis of drug crime in Germany was also carried out. The Federal Criminal Police Office (BKA) has defined the fight against internationally organized drug crime as one of its central tasks. Users of such crime are often perpetrators who not only violate the Narcotics Act, but also exercise violent crimes. Combating these crimes is a significant challenge for internal security in Germany and worldwide, as is explained in detail on the BKA website. The handling of anesthetic is regulated in the Narcotics Act (BTMG), which includes different substances, including opioids, cannabis and synthetic drugs.
The challenges in combating drug crime are significant in view of the increasing availability of drugs and the increase in new psychoactive substances (NPS). These substances imitate the effects of conventional narcotics and are often marketed as "legal highs". The fight against illegal drug trade on the Internet also requires highly specialized investigation to act against the new form of crime, which is associated with modern technologies. These aspects make it clear that drug policy and fighting in Germany and internationally continue to be an urgent challenge.
