Bloody dispute in Ottakring: knife attack and arrest!
A dramatic incident occurred on January 13, 2025 in Vienna-Ottakring, when a 48-year-old man was injured in the head with a knife by his 51-year-old sister in his apartment. The sister alerted the police around 6 p.m. The man received immediate medical care from the Vienna professional rescue service and was then taken to a hospital. The police seized the murder weapon and temporarily arrested the sister. On the order of the public prosecutor's office, she was transferred to a prison while the State Criminal Police Office took over the investigation, as police spokeswoman Julia Schick explained.
Previous insults and further incidents
On October 30, 2023, in another incident in Vienna-Ottakring, the police were also called about a knife attack. A witness reported an argument between two men on the street, in which a 36-year-old man was said to have aggressively pulled out a folding knife. The alerted officers found him in a nervous state, but at the same time the alleged victim was no longer on site. The knife was seized during the search and the 36-year-old was provisionally arrested for intentional grievous bodily harm. Interestingly, the suspect denied any allegations and appeared unreasonable during questioning, as reported on the Police News website.
These two incidents highlight the increasing violence in the city and show how quickly conflicts can escalate. As the investigation into today's knife attack continues, it remains uncertain what further details will emerge.
