Bloody relationship dispute: Police officer shoots himself after being deployed in Schwerin!
On Sunday, February 23, 2025, security forces in Salzburg were alerted when a 27-year-old man threatened the police with a kitchen knife in a relationship dispute. The incident occurred in the Lehen district, where the Cobra task force was able to intervene quickly. The aggressive Austrian was overpowered and arrested, preventing the situation from escalating. During the subsequent search of his apartment, the officers also discovered a small amount of drugs. Fortunately, there were no injuries in the incident, as 5min.at reported.
A similar incident occurred at the same time in Pinnow near Schwerin, where a plainclothes police officer broke into someone else's property with his service weapon. This led to a large-scale deployment of over 50 officers, including the special operations command (SEK). The situation appeared to pose a threat as the police officer had previously been reported over a relationship dispute. Tragically, when the SEK arrived, they could not prevent the officer from taking his own life with his service weapon. There were no other injuries in this incident, according to NDR.de.
Death by suicide
The public prosecutor's office in Schwerin has initiated proceedings to clarify the exact circumstances of the suicide. During the operation, some residents were locked out of their homes for several hours. This raises questions, which is why information about the incident was not initially released. The police and the Interior Ministry were reluctant to make official statements, which caused astonishment internally. There is general caution, particularly with regard to suicide, but exceptional circumstances can arouse public interest.
