Fraud cases in Pongau: Entrepreneurs and pensioners trapped!

A suspected case of fraud shocks the Pongau region. A 55-year-old entrepreneur is suspected of issuing false invoices for transport services between January 2022 and October 2024. According to the police, the damage is estimated to be in the five-digit euro range. The exact circumstances came to light when an attentive customer examined the invoices closely, which ultimately led to a report to the Salzburg public prosecutor's office. The entrepreneur could now be held accountable for commercial fraud, such as orf.at reported.

But it's not just Pongau that's being investigated: an attempted fraud was also uncovered in neighboring Pinzgau. A 67-year-old pensioner, supported by her 27-year-old insurance agent, fabricated a traffic accident in order to receive money from an insurance company for damage to her vehicle that had already been repaired. The “accident” was reported in January, but police investigations revealed that no accident had occurred. The damage caused amounts to around 3,000 euros. Both the pensioner and her representative have already made confessions and have also been reported to the Salzburg public prosecutor's office meinkreis.at reported.
