Stable future for Styria: FPÖ and ÖVP present government program!
On December 16, 2024, the Freedom Party and the Styrian People's Party unanimously approved the new government program "Strong Styria. Secure Future." decided. How APA OTS reports, FPÖ state party chairman Mario Kunasek emphasizes the party's responsibility for the political future of Styria and emphasizes the importance of the program, which is characterized by homeland awareness and drive. This program is intended to form the basis for a stable government until 2029 and will be implemented immediately after the state elections on November 24th, which were won by the FPÖ in a landslide.
The coalition between the FPÖ and the ÖVP already shows clear structures. How oe24 reports, the formal presentation of the program is expected to take place next week. The new state parliament is to be constituted on Wednesday and the state government is to be elected. Although the exact division of departments has not yet been officially confirmed, reports indicate a ratio of four to four between the FPÖ and ÖVP, with the FPÖ receiving 34.76 percent of the vote and thus 17 seats in the state parliament, while the ÖVP achieved 26.81 percent and 13 seats.
The central content of the government program includes a ban on headscarves for the Styrian state service and a ban on gender-neutral spellings in official documents. An aid fund for citizens affected by Corona is also planned. A “stop” for the “Leitspital in Stainach-Pürgg” project as well as various investments to strengthen the business location are also on the agenda. Regional political issues here are clearly shaped by the FPÖ, which gained a strong voice after the elections.
