SPÖ in front of FPÖ: Linz chooses and the tension increases!
in Linz, the SPÖ under Dietmar Prammer achieved a surprisingly strong outcome at the first ballot for the mayor election. Prammer took first place with 40.2 percent of the votes and will compete against Michael Raml from the FPÖ on January 26, which received 20.2 percent. The surprisingly high back of the SPÖ comes at a time when the party is struck by political turbulence in federal and state politics. After the first extrapolation, Prammer said overwhelmed and pleased about the trust of the voters, especially in view of the difficult circumstances. He explained that stability and reliability were essential in challenging times. This was also confirmed by the turnout of only 42.2 percent, which came about despite snowfall, such as Tips.at reports .
The way to the runoff election
The upcoming runoff election is considered crucial for the future orientation of Linz city policy. Prammer plans to take care of the worries of the citizens in the next two weeks, especially with regard to inflation, industry and jobs. His philosophy is to be a mayor for all Linzer, which he emphasized in his election campaign. FPÖ candidate Michael Raml saw his result as a historical moment for his party and strives for a “restart for Linz”. He relies on topics such as security and economic stability, such as Today.at reports .
An important question remains how the non -voters can be mobilized in the runoff election. Raml believes that there is great potential because many Linz would like a change in the face of current politics. The ÖVP candidate, Martin Hajart, narrowly failed and congratulated the two finalists, while the Greens fought with a greatly reduced voter turnout despite a solid result. The political landscape in Linz will be significantly below the sign of the competition between red and blue in the coming weeks.
