Politics bang: FPÖ and ÖVP fail because of Kickl's rush to power!
In the turbulent days of Austrian politics, there was a spectacular break between the FPÖ and the ÖVP. How ots.at reported that FPÖ leader Herbert Kickl had resigned from the task of forming a government after talks with Federal President Alexander Van der Bellen after the negotiations failed. Kickl was massively criticized by the ÖVP, represented by Secretary General Alexander Pröll. Pröll praised his own party and accused Kickl of being “in a power frenzy” and of only being involved in the negotiations for seven hours.
FPÖ General Secretary Christian Hafenecker vehemently countered the allegations and described them as a “lie”. In an interview with PULS 24, he made it clear that Kickl had always tried to find a compromise. “There was a good atmosphere for discussions between Stocker and Kickl, but Stocker's ability to act was restricted,” said Hafenecker, who also suspected possible interference by foreign forces, in particular the European People's Party (EPP). Hafenecker also rejected Pröll's implied criticism of Kickl's negotiation times and suggested that Stocker was not more active either.
Uniform information chaos
Hafenecker also made it clear that the allegations that the FPÖ appeared at the negotiations without documents were unjustified. He rejected this claim and called it a “lie.” Accordingly, it was others, especially ÖVP representatives, who were not sufficiently prepared. This amount of contradictory statements and the resulting confusion created a picture of political chaos. The talks, which were deadlocked after an initial agreement on the budget, ended with no agreement in sight, which the FPÖ attributes to the behavior of the People's Party today.at reported.
