Netanyahu announces new attacks: This offensive is just the beginning!
The conflict between Israel and Hamas is escalating dramatically. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced that he would massively increase attacks on Hamas targets in the Gaza Strip. In a video address, Netanyahu said: "We have resumed the fight with all our might. From now on, negotiations will only be conducted under fire." The latest waves of attacks, which have resulted in more than 400 deaths, have been characterized as “just the beginning.” Civilians are also affected, many of whom are women and children, as reports from the Ministry of Health in Gaza confirm. According to Palestinian sources, at least 436 people have died, including 183 children and 94 women, and over 678 others have been injured since the new attacks began. The Israeli army justifies its actions as "precise attacks" on Hamas terrorists, but independent verification of the claims is not possible, according to the Hamas-controlled Ministry of Health.
Political unrest and international reactions
Amid this military escalation, there were significant political changes in Israel. Among other things, the right-wing extremist politician Itamar Ben-Gvir and two other members of his party were reappointed to the Council of Ministers. There were also mass protests against the Israeli government and its policies, particularly against the dismissal of domestic intelligence chief Ronen Bar, which the population perceives as a serious threat to national security. Annalena Baerbock, the German foreign minister, criticized the new attacks in the Gaza Strip as a step backwards for the peace process and stressed that this dashed the hopes of many Israelis and Palestinians to end the suffering on both sides.
As military operations continue, Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz announced evacuations of Palestinians from the fighting areas. Pressure is growing on humanitarian aid services as Jordan and international leaders such as French President Emmanuel Macron condemn the continuation of military operations as an “extremely dangerous step”. These developments highlight the tense conditions in the Middle East, where military and political decisions directly impact the lives of civilians. Reports of the death of a foreign UN employee in the Gaza Strip and the injury of other UN peacekeepers underline the critical situation on the ground, while aid organizations such as CARE are alarming that the humanitarian crisis has worsened dramatically.
