FPÖ climb despite investigations: Kickl caught in the survey low!

In Austrian politics, the waves are high: FPÖ boss Herbert Kickl is faced with a suspicion of corruption that relates to the period of his term of office as the Interior Minister between January 2018 and May 2019. The economic and corruption prosecutor in Vienna has initiated an investigation because Kickl and other FPÖ top politicians are suspected of having switched state-financed advertisements in a tabloid to ensure positive reporting. This happened while the FPÖ ruled together with the ÖVP. Other accused include prominent names such as Norbert Hofer and Heinz-Christian Strache, former Vice Chancellor and FPÖ chairman, such as the FAZ reported.

FPÖ in the survey high despite investigations

Despite the investigation, the FPÖ remains strong in the surveys. A current Lazarsfeld survey shows that the party under Kickl's leadership is 34 %, which means stabilization after a decline. The FPÖ benefits from the turbulent political conditions; A few weeks ago, the value was still 38 %. If there are new elections, the FPÖ could even improve compared to the 28.8 % of the National Council election in September 2024, reports OE24 .

These survey values reflect Kickl's strength that leads to the question of the chancellor, while competitors such as the SPÖ and ÖVP are far behind. The SPÖ currently only comes to 22 %, the ÖVP even bobs under the 20 %mark. Kickl's support therefore seems to be unbroken even in times of political turbulence, and the FPÖ sees the investigation, convinced that it will ultimately be a attitude. Nevertheless, it remains to be seen how the Situation will develop with regard to the upcoming elections.
