Additional performance for Der Freischütz: Festival break records!
The Bregenz Festival responded to the continued high demand and set an additional presentation by Carl Maria von Weber's opera "Der Freischütz" on the famous Seebühne for July 31. With this decision, the total number of performances increases to 27, with which around 192,000 tickets go on sale. According to BregenzerfestSpiele.com , around 60 percent of the tickets have already been sold out. Last year the premiere of "Der Freischütz" at the Bregenz Festival was a complete success when all 28 performances were sold out and thus building high expectations for the second season.
The exciting action of the work plays in a dark German village shortly after the Thirty Years' War. Here the young district clerk Max, who is in love with the daughter of the hereditary forester, Agathe, is in love. However, Max faces an impossible challenge to win her hand: he has to take an archaic trial fire. The dodgy war veteran Kaspar uses Max ’despair and persuades him to pour free balls in the mysterious wolf gorge that always hit the goal. But this pact with the devil harbors dark secrets - while six of the balls hit their destination, the seventh ball is steered by the devil. This gripping story is alive through the impressive backdrop of the Bregenz Festival, as vorarlberg.orf reported.
