Wiener Saubermänner on tour: Festival shirt for more order at concerts!
At large music events in Vienna, the MA 48 employees play a central role in ensuring cleanliness. The events in which the MA 48 is responsible for cleanliness include the concerts of well -known artists such as Robbie Williams, Justin Timberlake, Seiler & Speer and Guns N ’Roses. In order to strengthen their presence, the employees for the first time carry their own festival shirt in the "On Tour" look-bright orange, decorated with word games for various music acts. This initiative underlines the commitment of the city cleaning for a clean event experience.
During a concert in the Ernst Happel Stadium, residual waste and almost 100 kilograms of cardboard boxes are found. In order to cope with this garbage efficiently, around 300 waste containers in different sizes in and around the event area are available. The employees use various vehicles for cleaning, including sweeping machines, washes as well as toilet pendants and pissoir containers. In this context, climate city councilor Jürgen Czernohorszky emphasizes the commitment and professionalism of MA 48, while Josef Thon, department head of MA 48, emphasizes the versatility of its missions. This ranges from concerts to the Vienna City Marathon.
guided tours through the 48 facilities
Another highlight of the MA 48 are the free tours of selected systems that will be offered from May 2025. These events are aimed at citizens, schools and clubs and offer exciting insights into the Viennese waste management and their processes. The guided tours are available for groups of five or more and take place in the period from May to October 2025.

This is an opportunity for adults and children from 8 and 12 years to learn more about the importance of waste management, more information is available on the website of the City of Vienna.
analyzes of the waste composition
In the context of waste management, the city of Vienna regularly carries out analyzes of residual waste and old-fashioned composition. These surveys aim to determine the composition of the waste in Vienna. In the past analyzes, around 3,000 samples were evaluated and almost 64 tons of waste were examined, with the minimum requirements for the analyzes being exceeded.
The results of these examinations are crucial for reviewing performance in the degree of detection and waste separation. They make it possible to identify hotspots for optimization potential and also have an impact on the Vienna waste management plan and on the waste avoidance program. This valuable information comes from Pulswerk GmbH, which carried out these analyzes on behalf of the City of Vienna (MA 48) and were involved in the analysis.
With these initiatives, MA 48 not only shows engagement for cleanliness at major events, but also a comprehensive strategy for improving waste management in Vienna.
