Art connects: Währing celebrates the art. Festival.währing 2023

On Saturday, October 5th, the "Kunst.fest.währing", an exciting cultural event will start in Währing, which takes place until Sunday, October 13th. This initiative is directed by the dedicated Aurelia Staub, which has put together a varied program in a proven manner that has something interesting to offer for all ages and interests.

The highlights of the festival include sculptures by the Iranian artist Maryam Kouhestani, short documentary films by talented Hubert Sielecki and readings by the renowned writer Monika Helfer from Vorarlberg. Art lovers can look forward to many other offers that make the heart beat faster.

a connecting motto

Aurelia Staub, the director of the festival, is convinced that a relevant motto is essential for a successful event. This year's topic "radical and! Gently" reflects the desire to promote connection and unity in our often split society. "In times when many crises influence our lives, we have to remain vigilant and keep the ability to be amazed," explains Staub, who is a Swiss native.

With a clear vision, Staub, in collaboration with Petra Hartlieb and Friedl Preisl, has worked on this cultural event since January. Their goal is to offer less well -known artists a platform on which they can present their work. "It is a personal concern for me to offer a stage that are not the focus, but create remarkable art," says Staub.

inviting participation

The "art.fest.währing" takes place largely in the Semmelweisklinik in Hockegasse 37. In addition, art and culture can be experienced in the entire Währing district, for example in the municipal building at Kreuzgasse 78. There the pianist Marino Formenti provides musical entertainment. He plays daily from 11 a.m. to 8.30 p.m. and invites the residents to bring their wishes for various music styles, from pop to rock to jazz. "Designing with each other is not only allowed, but expressly desired," emphasizes Staub.

A particularly beautiful example of the cooperation is the story of a woman who prepared a Börek for the hard -working musician to do something good for him. For the grand ending of the festival on Sunday, October 13th, Marino Formenti together with "Baba Yaga" will bring the courtyard of the municipal building to life.
