Climate protection on the Alsergrund: Citizens' ideas form the future

The residents of the Alser Grund in Vienna were actively involved in the process to improve the climate in their district. Until October 25th, they had the opportunity to share their ideas that focused on renewable energies, sustainable lifestyles, climate -friendly mobility and urban design. In a remarkable exchange, over 500 suggestions were received, which were transmitted both online and through creative formats such as ideas postcards or personal actions in the Grätzl.

The next step in the process is the so-called "ideas check". At this stage, the residents are again asked: Together with city experts, they should evaluate and prioritize the submitted proposals to determine which ideas and topics are being followed. A technical analysis will then examine the feasibility of these suggestions.

an active commitment to climate protection

Climate Councilor Jürgen Czernohorszky (SPÖ) expressed his enthusiasm for the commitment of the citizens: "The Viennese have shown more once again how many ideas and knowledge are in them to improve their living environment." This initiative is seen as an excellent example of how citizen participation is necessary to promote the acceptance of climate -friendly measures, also emphasizes climate spokesman Stefan Gara (NEOS).

The Alsergrunder are invited to develop their ideas further, during an ideas workshop that takes place on Friday, November 22nd, from 5 p.m. to 8.30 p.m. in the ballroom of the district head. District boss Saya Ahmad (SPÖ) clarifies: "On the Alsergrund we do not make politics down from above, but shape the district together with the residents. Climate policy is the more effective, the more people on board." This shows how important a collaborative approach is for the protection of the climate and the well -being of the community.
