Würth Austria: Digitization increases efficiency and sustainability in logistics

With the introduction of a language -guided picking system,

Würth Austria has concentrated on the digitization of its logistics processes in order to make it more efficient and sustainable. This decision, which was made last year under the direction of logistics chief Josef Preyer, marks an important step in modern warehouse management.

In a collaboration with the experienced IT partner Lnconsult, the new system was implemented in just three months. "The introduction in ongoing operation was planned and went smoothly. The framework and cost framework was met," said Preyer. 25 out of a total of 70 employees in the logistics area were trained for the implementation to ensure that the staff is familiar with the new technology.

efficient logistics processes

The company's small division warehouse extends over 1,200 square meters and comprises three floors. About 3,500 picks are processed here every day, with up to ten employees work at eight patch stations at the same time. In the two layers that run from 6:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., each person can do up to 70 picks per hour.

The introduction of the new system has significantly increased productivity, especially through the improved ergonomics. Employees can now use both hands freely and no longer have to look through complex paper lists, which makes the work process considerably easier. Commissioner Funak Zdenek is satisfied: "For me, work is now much easier than before." His colleague Anneliese Weinzierl confirms: "I can fully concentrate on my work."

Sustainable solutions for the future

A significant advantage of this change is the positive effect on the environment. By avoiding paper documents, Würth Austria saves up to 500,000 sheets of paper every year, which not only reduces the printing costs for toners and paper, but also makes an important contribution to sustainability. According to the company plan, the investment in the new system is amortized within three years.

Progress at Würth Austria show how modern technologies can be used in logistics to establish more efficient and more environmentally friendly ways of working. Employees also benefit directly from the positive changes and can now carry out their work tasks faster and easier. This innovative procedure is increasingly regarded in the industry as an example of future developments, Dispo.cc .
