The traditional reception of the Club Tirol took place in Vienna on Wednesday evening, in which the award "Tyrolean and Tyrolean of the Year" was awarded for the twelfth time. At the same time, the Perspective Day was launched, including an exciting panel discussion. The reception attracted numerous participants from different areas and offered an excellent opportunity to network.

The Club Tirol has been established as an important point of contact for the approximately 40,000 Tyroleans: inside in Vienna for more than fifteen years. With over 650 members, the club organizes a variety of events annually that deal with topics from business, politics and culture. Tyrol reception is one of the main events in which the outstanding achievements of personalities in the region are recognized.

The winners

This year the glacier and climate researcher Andrea Fischer and the successful sports climber Jakob Schubert were awarded the title "Tyrolean and Tyrolean of 2024". In addition, Klaus Ortner received the honor for his life's work in a newly introduced category. The awards were presented by Tirol's governor Anton Mattle and the President of Club Tirol, Julian Hadschieff .

In his speech, Governor Mattle emphasized the values ​​of the excellent. "These people stand for extraordinary achievements that Tyrol represent at national and international level," he said in front of the numerous guests from politics, business and culture.

Andrea Fischer, who works at the Institute for Interdisciplinary Mountains Research at the Austrian Academy of Sciences in Innsbruck, was particularly appreciated. It deals intensively with the challenges of climate change and its effects on alpine regions. In the past, she has been awarded several times for her scientific achievements, including as "Scientist of 2023".

Jakob Schubert, who was able to win two Olympic bronze medals as well as six world championship titles and a European championship title, is considered one of the best sports climbers worldwide. His achievements have made him a sporting zone that made climbing not only popular in Tyrol, but also all over the world.

The honor for Klaus Ortner, a successful entrepreneur and art patron, was made by the former politician and industrial manager Brigitte Ederer . She reminded of its handling quality and its important contributions to the economy and art. Under his leadership, his company developed into one of the largest companies in the field of construction and plant technology in Austria.

Perspective day and discussion

In the afternoon, the first day of perspective took place, which dealt with the opportunities and challenges of life in the alpine space in the context of climate change. The keynote was held by the honored glacier researcher Andrea Fischer , followed by a panel discussion with other experts, including Wolfgang Gurgiser from the University of Innsbruck and Michaela Hysek-Unterweger , an entrepreneur from Tyrol.
