Five years of fellow man Inzersdorf: Together for a better neighborhood

In the 23rd district, more precisely in Inzersdorf, an important voluntary project is celebrated: The Insch Inzersdorf initiative, known as IMI23, is proud of five years of successful help. The association has set itself the goal of supporting people in need in the district and beyond, and tirelessly pursued this purpose. Chairman Reinhard Spieß says that the initiative emerged from the idea of a Christmas market in cooperation with Walter Reuter, the operator of the Koci inn. This market, known as "Christmas in the courtyard", has now become one of the most popular Advent markets in Liesing.

The Christmas market remains a central event in the calendar of IMI23. It not only serves as a source of income, but also as a possibility for visitors to fulfill children's wishes and create emotional moments, such as visits to the Santa Claus in shared apartments. In the past five years, the number of volunteers has increased to ten, and numerous collaborations with other organizations have emerged. "We have learned that cooperation with others is important to make a real difference," explains Spieß.

Diverse support for the needy

The initiative is involved in a variety of ways: members visit social markets to hand over food free of charge. Help is also provided in cooperation with Caritas' food edition, known as “Leo”. In addition, IMI23 is committed to children and adolescents by inviting them to the “IMI23 Children's Disco” once a year, which is done in cooperation with Volkshilfe Vienna. These events bring joy and variety to the life of many young people in the district.

The initiative goes one step further by supporting schools. An example of this is Dr. Adolf Lorenz School for Personal Children, who recently received a guitar for music lessons. This not only helps materially, but also a contribution to promoting creativity and education.

The challenges remain great. The volunteers of IMI23 notice that more and more people are in financial difficulties. The need for engagement grows and everyone can help.
