Classic experienced: The hold in Josefstadt celebrates 29 years of enjoyment
In the Josefstadt you will find a small, charming restaurant that specializes in Italian classics. The hold has been a popular starting point for lovers of Italian cuisine in Josefstädter Straße 50 for 29 years. Owner Georg Hold made the restaurant a special place that is shaped by a rustic, Italian ambience. The guests immediately feel comfortable here and appreciate the family atmosphere.
"We were one of the first Italian restaurants in the district at the time," recalls Hold, who describes his restaurant as "Altitalienische Osteria". The menu offers a delicate selection of fish, pasta and meat dishes. Particular importance is placed on the quality of the ingredients. The chef Andreas Egger always tries to update his offer regularly and to guarantee freshness.
diverse and seasonal dishes
"I always buy fresh, so our menu changes constantly," explains Egger. On average, guests can count on ten to twelve different dishes that include both Italian and domestic cuisine. Around 50 percent of the dishes come from the Austrian and the other 50 percent from Italian cuisine. This diversity can also be seen in the range of drinks with a fine selection of wines and beers.
A special highlight is the Ligurian fish soup, which can be found every Friday in the lunch menu. The price-performance ratio is also right, since the lunch menu is served daily between 11.30 a.m. and 3 p.m. for 12.50 euros with meat and 11.50 euros without meat.
The guests also rave about coffee that comes from the Calabrian Mauro roaster. "We try to obtain many products directly from Italy, but with fresh foods we rely fully on the quality from Austria," Hold explains the concept of his restaurant.
The hold is open from Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 1 a.m. and presents itself as a cozy place to enjoy both traditional Italian and Austrian delicacies. Further interesting information about the restaurant can be found online on the website at hold.wien
