Connection railway: District representation speaks for crossings and S-Bahn cycle
In a recently carried out meeting of the Hietzing district council, there were four resolution applications for the connecting railway on the agenda. These applications, some of which result in different voting results, reflect the different views of the future design of the rail connection.
The applications that were brought to the vote essentially aimed at the high -level tour of the planned connecting railway and the preservation of crossing options. While the ÖVP brought two applications that spoke out against the high route, there was also support from other political camps that supported or rejected certain aspects of the applications.
Support for crossing options
A central point of the discussion was the demand for maintaining all existing crossing options along the connecting railway. This requirement received majority approval, also on the part of the SPÖ, the emphasized that pedestrians in particular have to keep access to the crossings. At the same time, it was criticized that some applications were not discussed in advance in the responsible working group, which led to disagreement and different voting results.
connection between the debate
In addition, it was unanimously decided that a 15-minute cycle for the S-Bahn line S 80 should be guaranteed by the ÖBB during the entire operating time. This measure was considered necessary to improve the traffic connection for Hietzing.
Johanna Sperker, the club chairwoman of the Hietzinger ÖVP, made it clear after the vote that her party has been fighting against the plans of the ÖBB for years. She emphasized that the ÖVP is the only party for lowering the rails as an alternative to the high position. The topic remains a hotly controversial topic in the policy of the district.
Overall, it shows that despite various views within the district council, there is a common concern: to find an effective and citizen -related solution in relation to the connecting railway, which is able to meet the needs of the Hietzingen population.
