Alscafé in Hernals: Half a year longer enjoyment at Leopold Kunschak-Platz

The Alscafé on Leopold Kunschak-Platz in Hernals has to report pleasant news: The contract run, originally planned for the end of the year, was transferred to the rear due to a shift in the general renovation of the building. The operators can therefore remain in the café until at least in mid -2025. On the Instagram page of the Alscafé, it was enthusiastically announced that the company can be extended by another six months.

The story of the Alscafé is both moving and charming. In the past, the "Liebstöckl" restaurant was located at this point before it was replaced by "Gasthaus zur Elfe". But the inn could not last long and stopped operating in 2021. Since then, the once busy premises have been empty and were waiting to be brought back to life. The Initiative for the Alscafé was launched by two passionate entrepreneurs, Eva Baumgardinger and Juma Hauser. They organized a neighborhood event and switched on the lights in the café for a day to wake the Hernalser interest.

Huber was positive about the decision and is pleased that the café not only plays an important role for the locals, but also for the entire neighborhood.
