Shocking incident in Floridsdorf kindergarten: Children escaped unnoticed

A worrying incident occurred last Tuesday in a Floridsdorf kindergarten when three four-year-old girls disappeared unnoticed from the facility. According to a report by “Heute.at”, no employee could determine that the children who were in the care of “Wiener Kinderfreunde” had left the kindergarten on Prager Strasse.

A mother's description illustrates the disturbing situation: While the children were playing in the garden, they climbed over the fence and set off. The girls were alone on busy streets for about 15 minutes before they finally made it home. The discovery of their absence came only after a call from the parents, who, astonished by the children's disappearance, asked the kindergarten.

Reactions and measures

After the incident, discussions were held with all affected parents and a parents' evening was organized to provide information about what happened and to clarify questions. The area manager responsible for the kindergarten was also on site to be available to the parents as a contact person.

The “Wiener Kinderfreunde” have also submitted a voluntary disclosure to the responsible child and youth welfare office (MA 11) in Vienna. Müller-Wenzel noted: “We have several control and security mechanisms that obviously unfortunately failed at the same time.” The organization is already working on concrete improvements to these mechanisms to ensure that such incidents do not occur again in the future.

It's reassuring to hear that all three children are doing well. However, the question remains as to how such situations can happen in a care facility. Those responsible emphasize that they want to do everything to ensure the safety and well-being of the children. More information on the developments in this case can be found in a detailed report on www.meinkreis.at to find.
