Großemo der Göd and Younion: Traffic chaos by ring lock in Vienna

A large demonstration is imminent: On Tuesday, November 26th, around 15,000 participants are expected in the Vienna ring area. Organized by the public service union (Göd) and Younion, the public service employees step against an impending zero -wage round and the refusal of negotiations by their employer, the federal government, on the street.

The protest actions start at 3 p.m. in front of the Federal Chancellery and are created in a period of 45 minutes. Buses will arrive at the Wiener Ring from 1 p.m., followed by an admission to Ballhausplatz from 2 p.m. At 4:30 p.m. it is planned that the buses will depart for return transport. The Göd has received a strike approval from the Austrian Trade Union Confederation (ÖGB), so that the participants are legally secured and can also take part in the demo during the service.

traffic impairments

The planned large demo has far -reaching effects on traffic in Vienna. The ring is closed from 1 p.m., which will lead to delays in the surrounding areas, especially on Schwarzenbergplatz, Karlsplatz and on the right wing line. Alternating routes, such as the belt and the streets along the Danube Canal, are also affected.

In addition, there are considerable restrictions in the public transport network. The operation is discontinued or redirected for several tram lines. For example, line 1 will not run between the stock exchange and Schwarzenbergplatz, so that the trains in the direction of Stefan-Fadinger-Platz to the stock exchange will have to drive, turn there and drive back there. Line 2 is also not in use between Ring, Volkstheater U and Schwedenplatz U.

The Göd and Younion invest a lot of strength in this demonstration in order to emphasize the demand for fair salary negotiations. Further information on the planned measures and the course of the event can be found in the current reports on www.meinbezirk.at .
