Spusu Vienna Capitals: Newcomers should save the season start

After a rather bumpy start to the season, the Spusu Vienna Capitals made some strategic decisions to increase performance. In November, the club announced that it would bring two new players into the team in the hope of bringing a breath of fresh air to the team.

The capital, which are currently in the ninth place in the table, only collected 21 points after 19 games. This ensures a tense situation because the distance to the weaker teams is lower than that of the top teams. Those responsible therefore wanted to act quickly to improve sporting performance.

new faces in the team

The first newcomer, the Canadian attacker Joseph Cramarossa, brings both experience and offensive strength into play with his 32 years. He replaces Jason Willms, who recently left the team. The second reinforcement comes from the USA: Peyton Jones, a 28-year-old goalkeeper with German citizenship, was signed. He takes on the role of the second goalkeeper after Anders Lindbäck has not extended his contract and Tyler Parks fails for a long time due to an upper body injury.

Although expectations were high, the first games with the new players were anything but smooth. After an unexpected victory against the league leader Fehérvar AV, there was a defeat against the defending champions from Salzburg. The following game against the bottom of the table, the Pioneers Vorarlberg, also only ended with a disappointing result for the capital.

The influence of the new

From the two new additions, only Cramarossa has been used. He already showed some promising approaches, for example in his game against Fehérvar, where he noticed positively. However, his first goal is still a long time coming. Peyton Jones has not yet been able to play because 22-year-old Sebastian Wraneschitz was in goal. The coaches of the Capitals show that Jones may be used next weekend in the first two games against HC Puster Valley and HC Bozen.

The upcoming games in South Tyrol are particularly challenging. Although there will be points, the expectations are moderate: the players are faced with the task of asserting themselves against two strong opponents.
